Too Young He was only four And he loved to watch TV Those old movies about super heros Saving the day from the sky Dressed in a cape Baring the symbol of superman He jumped window Oh how he wanted to fly Now he is confined to a bed Body and mind unable to function Still baring the symbol of superman He was only sixteen And was so excited to be a driver All year long he talked about his car He swore he would never drink And go out on the road He swore he’d be careful Yet while driving down the highway Just a little too fast Drifted a bit to the side Panicked and turn the wheel hard Rolled the car four times She was only twenty five And she had so many hopes and dreams She smiled at those she loved And laughed at those she disliked She was beautiful Dark hair shining in the sun And with every breath She made each day a vacation Two jobs later, ever closer to her vision Yet the breath left her late at night And she faded away She was only forty three And was the happiest woman alive She watched as her son Grew each day Traveling from grade to grade She longed for his graduation For the proudest moment The greatest gift of being a mother Yet that loving heart stopped suddenly Leaving a son to wander the hall with tears They were too young to leave With so many more things to accomplish Families and friends to tend to Hopes and dreams fulfill Love and life to give Yet no one could stop it Things happen and people pass on We can hope for a better place And let their spirits live on Then they will be immortal Yet they will always be too young Back
