This Site...
...has gone through quite a few phases since it opened June 30, 2001. Yes, I
know the exact date only because I made my livejournal on the same day. It
started out on geocities. It was easy for me to made the text and drop it
where I wanted. The site started out with I believe to be six sections. Each
section was a text in a different color and that subpage all of the text was
in that color. IE: The updates text on the main page was yellow then all of
text on the updates page was that color. At this point the site was known as
Sapphire Gem's Lair. After some helpful advice from the oh so lovely Kuriko
the site took a darker turn with a wave background from geocities and gray
text. That layout actually stayed with me for quite a long time because it
did indeed look nice. The sites name also changed it became
The Forbidden Realm. The site stayed that way until it I started messing with
a leaf background on geocities. The site took a very white leaf layout that I
am actually still very proud of. It was also at this moment that I made my
second website, Deep As Glass for all of my original works. It was a white
background with black text at this point. Alas, the layouts on both sites were
far too white for my tastes and I stumbled across the graphics by
Sinful Gothic. I shamelessly took some of them (with permission) and a
background from another site (I gave them credit), stuck some wordson fire
buttons and made a layout that I liked quite a bit. Deep As Glass switched
to a white and light gray texts on various black backgrounds. I eventually
found a small star background that I was happy with. After finding out that
my family owned Photoshop 6.0 I started to poke around graphic design with
that. Not in a long time I managed to get some nice, pain graphics together
and made the site my own. It was one of the best moments of my life. I felt
so proud.
Now to this, my new site. There is a bit of a story of how I came to get this
domain. I met Anajiel in January and we got very close in a very short amount
of time. I mentioned to her at some point that I was looking into buying a
domain. It was a little over a week ago that we talked on the phone and I told
her I found this domain, something that had not been updated in over a year.
One day, out of the blue, Anajiel told me that she was going to give me this
domain as a gift. Needless to say I nearly fell out of my chair. Not only did
she give me a domain for free, since it has a sponsor, but she is also teaching
me html and graphic design. I am so in love with this entire concept of having
my own domain and I will rant about that for quite a long time.
And this section expands even more. After a heated debate with my parents
they did not like the idea that my site was being supported by someone that I
did not know. It was such a lame reason, but they got me www.twilightmist.com
and I don't have to pay for anything. Sounds reason enough to me and plus I
got rid of those horrid pop ups.
Fairly soon I plan on adding completely new graphics to this site that are
completely mine. Then I can say it is my site and only have copyrights to
me since the old graphics belonged to Anajiel and we are no longer friends.
I think I'm done now.
